I've given this a lot of thought, and I think this is the right thing to do for myself, the show, and my wallet. Starting with the next episode, the Game Theorists channel (where MatPat, Ronnie, and me are partnered up.) is going to have primary release over my personal youtube channel. Let me explain.
We three have always banked off each other in order for all three of us to get more exposure on YouTube. I get 5 times as many views on the Game Theorists channel than my own personal one. But now we are in the process of experimenting with monetization, which means I could finally earn some income from the show, which I desperately need right now. At the moment, I release my episodes on my channel around 24-48 hours before I do on the Game Theorist channel, and this is splitting my views. If monetization on the Game Theorists channel can happen, I can't take views away from a new-found source of income.
I know this may cause a lot of people to want to break away from my personal channel, but let me do explain what I have in store for my own channel. First of all, I am still posting episodes on my own channel, and they WILL be add free. Granted, it may be a week or so of the episode being on the Game Theorists channel before they get posted, but they WILL be posted and interruption free. Second, I am going to create a general vlog where I can just talk about things such as my experiences in Japan, gaming in the world, or my own perspectives of games old and new. This It's where I can just be me and share my experiences with people. I also still hope to have my cooperative video series with localization company Language Automation Inc. on my channel as soon as we can get it together as well. I will also be posting contest announcements, general announcements, and other little fun things on my channel as well.
I just want people to understand the situation I am in, and not think I am abandoning my channel. I am not. I just have to be real about money, opportunity, and my relationship with Ronnie and MatPat. We have each grown exponentially since we joined forces, and if we are to continue to grow, we need to bank off of one another.
Thanks for reading this giant wall of text, and thank you for understanding my very loving fans. Game Exchange is still growing strong, and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon.
